Myanmar’s Roses of Hope movement set to launch on Aung San Suu Kyi’s birthday

Myanmar’s Roses of Hope movement is set to launch on Aung San Suu Kyi’s birthday. Here is the statement issued on 12 June: To oppose the military junta’s sham political processes and demand the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners, we officially announce the launch of the “ROSE Movement: Roses of Hope.” This collective campaign, engaging citizens both inside Myanmar and across the diaspora , will be mobilized on June 19, marking the 81st birthday of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. As the first synchronized nationwide mass movement of 2026, the campaign will utilize diverse forms of resistance across both online and offline platforms, spanning liberated areas as well as territories currently under junta control. Furthermore, this initiative will be seamlessly integrated with the ongoing “Proof of Life” campaign. Campaign Slogan: “Fight On Alongside Mother Suu! ” Ways to Participate: ● Depending on their respective locations and security conditions, citizens are encouraged to creatively participate on June 19 through the following means: ● Offering roses (or any locally available flowers) at shrines, wearing them, or distributing them within communities. ● Posting photos of these solidarity actions on social media platforms. ● Displaying and carrying roses during ground-level protest movements. The Three Public Declarations: ● Through this movement, the collective voice of the people will firmly assert the following three demands: ● The immediate, unconditional release of our leader Mother Suu and all political prisoners. ● The immediate abolition of the forced military conscription law. ● The reaffirmation that U Win Myint remains the legitimate President of Myanmar, and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi remains the legitimate State Counsellor. Background and Objectives: Under growing regional and international pressure, the military junta is facing a severe crisis over the continued detention of political prisoners. Rather than granting genuine and unconditional amnesty, the junta has resorted to deceptive maneuvers, such as transferring the State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to house arrest and placing President U Win Myint under strict surveillance. Political prisoners continue to be cynically exploited as political hostages. Concurrently, while the junta attempts to project an illusion of legitimacy and stability, the reality on the ground is defined by widespread institutional corruption, the total collapse of the rule of law, and systematic lawless exploitation of the populace. In a desperate bid to replenish its depleted forces, the junta is conducting arbitrary, daylight abductions of youths in both urban and rural areas—forcing them into conscription or deploying them to the frontlines as human shields under the guise of “People’s Militia” forces to prolong its authoritarian grip on power. Therefore, to reject the junta’s attempt to establish a post-sham-election, civilian-facade military dictatorship amid mounting internal and external crises, we strongly urge all people — both inside and outside Myanmar to participate actively and in unity in this “ROSE Movement.” People Movement Platform Myanmar The post Myanmar’s Roses of Hope movement set to launch on Aung San Suu Kyi’s birthday appeared first on ENG.MIZZIMA.COM.
