President Jokowi Visits Sikka Regency, NTT to Meet Earthquake Victims

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) made a visit to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province on Wednesday morning (16/9). The president was scheduled to arrive at 1:00 PM WITA (Central Indonesian Time) precisely in Sikka Regency. "The information we received is indeed as such. The plan is for him to arrive at 1:00 PM WITA," said a hotline officer from the Sikka Regency Government Public Relations when contacted on Wednesday (16/9). The primary objective of this visit was for the president to meet with the community members affected by the earthquake that struck NTT in mid-August. According to the public relations officer, the president intended to "congratulate and connect with the community of Sikka Regency following the earthquake on August 15." As of the time this report was filed, there was no official information regarding who accompanied Jokowi on his visit to NTT. The president has visited various regions multiple times. Most recently, on Saturday (12/9), he attended a circumcision ceremony for the child of the caretaker of the Al-Busthomi Foundation, KH Muhammad Busthomi, in Cirebon, West Java. On that occasion, Jokowi was accompanied by officials from the PSI (Indonesian United Party) West Java Regional Executive Board and his youngest son, who also serves as the Chairman of the PSI Central Executive Board, Kaesang Pangarep. Jokowi also took the opportunity to shake hands with the attendees. Jokowi had previously visited East Nusa Tenggara in early August. He stayed in Kupang for three days, from July 31 to August 2, 2026. During his visit, he engaged in various activities, including meeting with seaweed fishermen at Oesina Beach, Kupang Regency, attending the PSI Kupang City Regional Meeting, participating in a fun walk on Car Free Day (CFD), and attending a cultural carnival. Jokowi has also visited several areas in Lampung. His participation in a traditional ceremony where he stepped on a buffalo's head garnered significant public attention.
