China Launches Space Tourism Package Priced at $760,000 for 6 Days

China's leading online travel agency, Trip.com, has launched a 6-day space tourism package priced at approximately $760,000 USD. The package, offered through its luxury travel brand HHtravel, includes 4 days of training in the United States prior to departure and a suborbital flight lasting about 90 minutes, according to reports from the South China Morning Post and other sources. On the fifth day of the program, travelers will board a Virgin Galactic spacecraft from New Mexico for a suborbital flight, experiencing a few minutes of weightlessness and viewing Earth through the spacecraft's 17 windows. The price covers training, transportation, accommodation, spacesuits, identification badges, and video, but excludes international airfare, US visas, and personal insurance. Since sales for the 2027 program began on Tuesday, two customers have already booked the package, making it reportedly the highest-priced publicly available space tourism product in China. Passengers must undergo extensive pre-flight training, including sessions in high-g simulators, parabolic flights, extreme condition training, and emergency drills. The price and safety concerns have generated significant discussion on Chinese social media, with some expressing excitement about the opportunity to travel to space, while others question the adequacy of just four days of training. Virgin Galactic has been selling space tourism seats for $750,000 each, and several Chinese companies are also developing their own space tourism services, aiming to commence human flights in 2027 and 2028.
