Takeo Province Urges Citizens to '3 Do Nots, 3 Eliminates' for Dengue Fever Prevention
The Director of the Takeo Provincial Department of Health has urged citizens to practice the '3 Do Nots' – do not get bitten by mosquitoes, do not let mosquitoes breed, and do not be negligent when having a fever – and the '3 Eliminates' – eliminate stagnant water, eliminate larvae, and eliminate Aedes mosquito habitats – to prevent dengue fever outbreaks.
In Takeo Province, southern Cambodia, vigilance is increasing against the outbreak of dengue fever. On July 17, 2026, Pan Van, Director of the Provincial Department of Health, led an awareness campaign on dengue fever prevention along with his colleagues. The campaign, held at Sok An Tonle Bati High School in the Bati district, aimed to prevent and control dengue fever within the community. The event was attended by Wei Vira, Deputy Director of the Bati District Health Office, RRT teams, directors of all 17 health centers, RRT officials from health centers, the principal of Sok An Tonle Bati High School, and local authorities. Director Pan also conducted direct education and distributed mosquito repellent to residents in Thnal Taksen village and Tonle Bati village in Krang Thnon commune, Bati district. He strongly urged citizens to continue practicing the '3 Do Nots' – do not get bitten by mosquitoes, do not let mosquitoes breed, and do not be negligent when having a fever – and the '3 Eliminates' – eliminate stagnant water, eliminate larvae, and eliminate Aedes mosquito habitats. In parallel, the Khvav Health Center conducted educational activities and distributed mosquito repellent in six villages within Khvav commune, Samrong district. The Tram Khnar Health Center distributed repellent to 25 households, totaling 58 containers, in Jom Kot village, Sur Phi commune, Bati district. Dengue fever tends to break out, especially during the rainy season in Cambodia. The Cambodian government is focusing on improving public health and infectious disease control, emphasizing the need for increased hygiene awareness among all citizens. This initiative in Takeo Province highlights the importance of local-level infectious disease control measures. Source: Koh Santep Khmer
