Cambodia-Vietnam Economic Connectivity Master Plan Acceleration Meeting Held

On July 27, 2026, the Ministry of Planning of Cambodia convened a meeting of the Secretariat of the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the Preparation and Drafting of the Cambodia-Vietnam Economic Connectivity Master Plan. Presiding over the meeting at the Ministry's headquarters, H.E. Bin Trachhey, Minister of Planning and Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Commission, reviewed the progress of the Secretariat in preparing and drafting the master plan. He provided recommendations to the Secretariat to expedite the drafting process, ensuring it is comprehensive and complete, for submission to the Technical Working Group meeting and the Inter-Ministerial Commission for review and feedback. The master plan aims to strengthen economic ties and foster sustainable growth between Cambodia and Vietnam. Key areas are expected to include infrastructure development, trade facilitation, and investment promotion, particularly in border regions. The Secretariat is tasked with closely collaborating with relevant ministries and institutions to ensure the plan is thorough and finalized promptly. This initiative is part of Cambodia's broader strategy to deepen economic integration within the ASEAN region and enhance cooperation with neighboring countries. In the context of China's significant influence on Cambodia's economy, strengthening economic ties with Vietnam could offer opportunities for economic risk diversification and the creation of new growth avenues.
