According to measurements on the morning of September 4, the Tanintharyi River water level is at 23 feet 7 inches above the normal water level, which is 5 inches below the danger mark of 24 feet. "The rainfall has decreased slightly, and the rain in the upper reaches is also decreasing. If the sea tide recedes from Myeik, the river water level will drop. Currently, schools are closed. The Tanintharyi-Butpyin Union Highway is still flooded, so it is not yet passable," a local resident said. Due to the flooding of the Tanintharyi River, 17 schools have been closed, 10 relief camps have been opened, and thousands of people have been affected by the flood. The Tanintharyi River reached the danger mark of 17 feet on August 14 and exceeded the danger mark of 24 feet on August 30. On September 1, due to the river flooding, the Tanintharyi-Butpyin section of the Yangon-Myeik-Kawthaung Union Highway became impassable, and the road has been closed for four days. The danger mark for the Tanintharyi River is set at 17 feet, and the extreme danger mark is set at 24 feet.
