Laos, Myanmar Reaffirm Close Ties on 70th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

Laos and Myanmar have agreed to further strengthen their close ties, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Defence Services, Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation, made an official visit to Laos, holding bilateral talks with President Thongloun Sisoulith at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane. During the talks, the two leaders reviewed the progress of bilateral relations and exchanged views on domestic, regional, and international developments. They particularly welcomed the continued expansion of cooperation in defense and security, foreign affairs, trade, investment, transport, energy, labor, education, and tourism, while encouraging relevant agencies to further deepen practical cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries. A handover of snake antivenom from Myanmar to the Lao Ministry of Health also took place.
