Thai Trailers Spotted Near Cambodia Border, Hinting at Nighttime Transport

Three heavy-duty trailers from Thailand were reportedly seen traveling at night near the border area in Cambodia's Battambang province, according to taxi drivers and other sources. The sightings occurred on the night of September 9th, with the vehicles allegedly carrying cargo tightly covered by tarpaulins. Sources indicated that it has not been clearly confirmed which border crossing these vehicles used. However, based on observations and Thai license plates on the rear of the trucks, they were seen in the vicinity of the Doung International Checkpoint in Kamrieng District, Battambang Province. A police official at the Doung International Checkpoint, who requested anonymity, confirmed that no vehicles or goods are permitted to pass through this checkpoint. The official added that Thai trailers are observed operating almost every night along National Road 59, a border-connecting road that links areas from Malai, Samphu Lun, Phnom Preuk, and Kamrieng, extending to Pailin Province. Sources further stated that these types of vehicles mostly operate at night, traveling from the border region in Battambang Province towards Pailin Province. However, there is no precise information yet regarding the type of goods contained within the tightly covered trailers. The official hinted that the remaining approximately three to four trailers might be stuck in silos within Pailin Province. He clarified that the goods or materials inside these vehicles are not those being transported into Cambodia via the Doung International Checkpoint. Nonetheless, sources likened the movement of these vehicles to "ants carrying soil to build a mound," referring to the continuous transportation along various roads near the border areas.
