Kun Khmer Gains International Momentum as Multiple Nations Express Interest in Hosting

Following the remarkable success of the first Asian Kun Khmer Championship held in Vietnam, two more countries have expressed their eagerness to host Kun Khmer (Cambodian martial arts combat sport) events. This indicates the rapid spread of the sport across the region. According to Mr. Kov Chai, President of the Kun Khmer Federation and Secretary General of the International Kun Khmer Federation, after the conclusion of the Kun Khmer championship in Vietnam, two other countries are ready to host different events. Specifically, Indonesia has requested to host the second Asian Kun Khmer Championship in 2027. Meanwhile, Malaysia is also fully prepared to host the first Southeast Asian Kun Khmer Championship in 2027. Concurrently, Mr. Kov Chai announced that Cambodia is also ready to host the 7th World Kun Khmer Championship in Phnom Penh, scheduled to take place from November 25th to 30th, 2026. Vietnam, which recently hosted the first Asian Kun Khmer Championship with great success, also aims to host the 8th World Kun Khmer Championship in 2027, as the Kun Khmer Federation in Vietnam has already submitted its application. Mr. Kov Chai stated that as the International Kun Khmer Federation, he warmly invites all national Kun Khmer federations, delegations, athletes, coaches, and technical officials from around the world to participate in this significant World Championship event in Phnom Penh. Cambodia is fully prepared to warmly welcome the international Kun Khmer family with friendship, hospitality, and solidarity. He also praised Malaysia for initiating the request to host the first Southeast Asian Kun Khmer Championship in 2027 and Indonesia for its request to host the second Asian Kun Khmer Championship in 2027. These requests clearly demonstrate the growing commitment of regional member countries, particularly the rapid development of Kun Khmer in Southeast Asia, the Asian continent, and the international community.
