Ca Mau City Center Submerged by Heavy Rains, Affecting Daily Life

Extensive flooding has occurred in the inner city of Ca Mau, Ca Mau province in southern Vietnam, following prolonged heavy rainfall on September 23, severely impacting residents' lives and travel. According to on-site reporter observations, the rain began early in the morning and continued intermittently for several hours, exceeding the drainage capacity of the urban infrastructure and causing widespread localized flooding. Specifically, multiple points of deep inundation were observed on major arterial roads such as Tran Hung Dao, Ngo Quyen, and Nguyen Trai streets, as well as roads leading to the city's entrance. In some sections, the water depth exceeded half the height of motorcycle tires, spilling onto sidewalks and into the yards and homes of residents. This has caused many vehicles to stall, making movement extremely difficult for residents and increasing safety risks. In addition to the main thoroughfares, narrow alleys and residential areas in the city center have also been affected by the flooding. Water has overflowed extensively even in front of government agencies and administrative units, hindering the movement of officials and administrative procedures. In light of the adverse weather conditions, relevant authorities have advised residents to proactively elevate their belongings, protect their property, and exercise caution when moving through deeply submerged areas to avoid unfortunate traffic incidents.
