Vietnam Launches Project to Support Vulnerable Children

A new project has been launched in Vietnam to support children in special circumstances or at risk of facing them. This includes children who migrate alone to Hanoi, children living and/or working on the streets, children with special needs or disabilities, and those who are at risk of or have been trafficked. The project will be implemented by the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights (VACR) in coordination with relevant units, and is expected to run for over two years. This initiative addresses the ongoing social challenges in Vietnam, a country experiencing rapid economic growth. Protecting minors is a key pillar of the social welfare policies promoted by the Communist Party of Vietnam. Under the one-party system, the government typically leads policy implementation for social issues, with related organizations carrying out the practical work. The increasing prevalence of the internet has also heightened the risks of online exploitation and exposure to harmful content for children, making countermeasures a pressing concern. The project aims to respond to these societal issues and safeguard the rights and safety of the most vulnerable children.
