Cambodia: Tripartite Meeting for 2027 Minimum Wage Negotiation Begins

Cambodia has commenced tripartite negotiations between labor, employer, and government representatives to determine the new minimum wage for 2027 in the garment, footwear, and travel goods manufacturing sectors. This marks the second meeting of the National Council on Minimum Wage (NCLW) in its fourth mandate, second year, with Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training and Chairman of the NCLW, leading the proceedings. This meeting follows the first session, which began on the afternoon of September 1, 2026. During the initial meeting, key statistics related to seven socio-economic indicators, serving as the basis for minimum wage negotiations, were presented to the involved parties. In today's tripartite meeting, labor and employer representatives are set to present their respective new wage proposals for negotiation and to reach a unified figure. Stakeholders anticipate that the current wage negotiation process will proceed smoothly and yield favorable outcomes, drawing on years of experience, for the benefit of the workers and ensuring mutual acceptance.
