MANILA, Philippines — Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corp. has added former transportation secretary Jaime Bautista to its board of directors as the company undergoes a major restructuring in its business operations. The Sy-led company said its board elected Bautista as an independent director during a special meeting held last Sept. 9. Bautista was transportation secretary from 2022 to 2025. Prior to that, he held several positions at Philippine Airlines, including president and chief operating officer from 2004 to 2012 and from 2014 to 2019, as well as executive vice president and chief finance officer from 1993 to 2003. Aside from Atlas Mining, Bautista currently serves as an independent director at The Philippine Stock Exchange Inc., San Miguel Food and Beverage Inc., San Miguel Corp., Eagle Cement Corp. and Mit-Pacific Infrastructure Holdings Corp. He also acts as an advisor to the boards of the University of the East and the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. The appointment comes amid a major overhaul in the ownership of Atlas Mining, after the Sy and Consunji-backed Dominion Holdings Inc. (DHI) acquired a 20.43-percent stake in the listed mining firm. DHI signed a deed of assignment to acquire subscription rights to 727.2 million common shares of Atlas Mining from the Ramos family’s Anglo Philippine Holdings Corp. As of the first semester, the company reported a net income of P4.61 billion, a reversal of its P653-million loss in the same period last year, pulled up by higher prices and production from its copper and gold operations. The company saw revenues increase by 64 percent to P12.98 billion from P7.94 billion in the same period in 2025. Its mining operation was able to produce 76,000 dry metric tons of copper concentrate, up 17 percent from 65,000 DMT in the same period last year. Gold production totaled 7,792 ounces from 7,751 ounces in 2025. The company saw the average price of copper ore at $5.97 per pound, while gold prices remained elevated at $4,622 per ounce.
