Vietnam Education Minister Explains Textbook Shortage

A significant shortage of textbooks has emerged as a pressing issue in Vietnam at the start of the new academic year. In response, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son provided a detailed explanation to the National Assembly regarding the delays in textbook supply and their underlying causes. The Minister pointed to a combination of factors, including limitations in the production capacity of the publishing and printing sectors, as well as delays stemming from revisions to textbook content. This shortage raises concerns about its direct impact on the right to education for citizens, prompting worries from parents and educators alike. Concurrently, General Secretary and President To Lam has departed for the United States to attend the high-level general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. This visit is seen as a crucial opportunity to enhance Vietnam's international standing and strengthen multilateral cooperation. State visits to Canada are also on the agenda, highlighting an active diplomatic schedule. Furthermore, there is a proposal to designate one day in 2026 as a holiday for 'Vietnam Culture Day,' aiming to boost national cultural awareness and domestic tourism. The Organization Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee has also announced decisions concerning cadre appointments, indicating ongoing efforts to reinforce the Party's organizational structure.
