Vietnam Ranks 87th Globally in Passport Power
Vietnam's passport ranks 87th globally with visa-free access to 70 destinations in the 2024 Henley Passport Index. Within Southeast Asia, it trails Singapore and Malaysia, highlighting how economic growth and international trust influence passport power.
According to the latest Henley Passport Index 2024, Vietnam's passport ranks 87th globally, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 70 destinations. Within Southeast Asia, Singapore maintained its top position with access to 192 destinations, while Malaysia ranked seventh with 183 destinations. Vietnam trails behind these regional peers. The index, which tracks global travel freedom across 227 countries and territories using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can enter without prior visa. This ranking suggests that Vietnam's economic growth, its standing in the international community, and its diplomatic relations with other countries influence the ease with which its citizens can travel abroad. The Vietnamese government is expected to continue its diplomatic efforts to enhance international trust and facilitate smoother global mobility for its citizens, in line with its economic development.
