Myanmar President Pays Official Visit to Vietnam; New School Year Begins, New Policies Introduced

On September 5, Vietnam marked the start of the new academic year nationwide, with the inauguration of inter-level boarding schools. On the same day, President Min Aung Hlaing of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and his wife paid an official visit to Vietnam. This visit followed the issuance of regulations on discipline for party organizations and members who violate regulations by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Additionally, on September 4, it was announced that General Secretary and President To Lam of Vietnam would visit the Russian Federation and the French Republic. The Myanmar President's visit to Vietnam can be seen as a move linked with these diplomatic activities. Furthermore, on September 3, a national conference was held to study, grasp, and implement several resolutions and directives from the Politburo, and the Ministry of Home Affairs proposed a comprehensive review of cases of resignation under Decree 178. On September 1, Quang Ninh province officially became a city. These new policies have been effective since September. This visit by the Myanmar President comes as Vietnam has achieved rapid economic growth in recent years and increased its regional influence. While maintaining its one-party system, Vietnam has introduced a market economy and diversified its international relations. It particularly emphasizes stability and cooperation within ASEAN while managing its complex relationship with China. Relations with Myanmar are considered important from the perspective of regional stability.
