Penalties for transporting smuggled and tax-evading goods on trains

Myanma Railways has issued a special warning statement that the transportation of illegal smuggled goods and tax-evading goods on passenger trains operating on various routes of Myanma Railways is prohibited, and if discovered, will be strictly penalized in accordance with existing laws. Myanma Railways stated that it is operating passenger trains to allow the public to travel comfortably and safely. Therefore, to avoid delays and inconveniences to the public's journeys and to ensure compliance with the law, a warning has been issued against transporting illegal smuggled goods, tax-evading goods for which customs clearance has not been obtained, and large quantities of goods intended for commercial sale and trade in passenger carriages. During the journey, relevant authorities and security organizations will conduct surprise inspections. Therefore, if it is discovered during inspection that prohibited goods are being transported, not only will the goods be confiscated, but strict penalties will be imposed in accordance with existing laws. Therefore, it is requested that traveling citizens cooperate to ensure a safe and smooth journey by transporting only their personal travel belongings within the specified weight limits, according to the statement.
