Vietnam National Assembly Discusses Amendments to Publishing and Architecture Laws

On August 5, during the first extraordinary session of the 16th National Assembly, deliberations began on amendments to several laws, including the Publishing Law and the Architecture Law. The session heard submitted proposals and review reports before commencing discussions. The legislative discussions are particularly focused on the publishing and architecture sectors. For the Publishing Law, it is expected that issues related to information dissemination, content regulation, and adaptation to digital media will be debated. As Vietnam has seen a transformation in information flow with the advancement of digitalization in recent years, legislative adjustments to address these changes are becoming urgent. Regarding the Architecture Law, with ongoing urban development and infrastructure projects, there is a demand for more efficient and sustainable architectural standards. Key points likely to be discussed include strengthening safety regulations, environmental considerations, and balancing design freedom with public interest. Furthermore, the session also addressed clarifying the scope of state compensation liability in tax management activities and establishing a national digital legal dissemination and education system. Proposals for the establishment of Quang Ninh City and Bac Ninh City are also expected to be considered and approved by the National Assembly. These National Assembly deliberations are part of Vietnam's efforts to update its legal framework to meet the diverse needs and contemporary challenges of a society undergoing continuous economic growth.
