Hanoi Expands Cooperation with Saint Petersburg

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and Saint Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, are moving to strengthen cooperation between them. Recently, a meeting took place at the Saint Petersburg representative office in Moscow between a delegation from Hanoi led by Nguyen Xuan Luu, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, and Sergey Osipov, Head of the representative office. During the meeting, expectations were expressed for Saint Petersburg to further enhance its cooperation with Vietnamese localities. The presence of Vietnam at the Saint Petersburg International Legal Forum and Vietnam's active participation in the forum were also mentioned. Hanoi hopes to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of fields, including economy, trade, investment, culture, education, tourism, and science and technology. The city aims to implement specific cooperative projects with Saint Petersburg and promote people-to-people exchanges. Both cities have a history of friendly relations, and this meeting is expected to serve as an opportunity to deepen those ties further. Vietnam, under its one-party system, continues to pursue economic growth and considers strengthening international relations a key pillar of its foreign policy. Relations with Russia, in particular, are historically friendly, and economic cooperation is positioned as part of Vietnam's multifaceted diplomatic strategy.
