Vietnam Startup Aves Launches Electric Motorcycle Design Contest

Vietnamese tech startup Aves has launched the 'Aves Future Mobility Challenge,' a contest seeking practical and deployable electric motorcycle designs with a total prize pool of up to VND 265 million (approximately $11,000 USD). This competition, part of the Vietnam Mobility Show 2026, opened registration on September 14th, will begin accepting submissions from September 21st, and plans to award prizes on December 5th. Co-organized with VnExpress, the event aims to discover and honor new electric motorcycle ideas and designs that combine aesthetics, functionality, and high practical applicability. The competition targets designers, engineers, students, and the creative community who understand the real mobility needs of Vietnamese people. Submissions and registrations will be handled online. The prize money is divided into three categories: Applied Design, Idea Design, and Community Choice. The Applied Design category offers three awards: Excellence (VND 100 million), Impression (VND 60 million), and Potential (VND 40 million), which include vouchers for Aves electric motorcycles. This category is for participants with in-depth knowledge, background, and experience in design, requiring them to present their full design development process, including ideas, sketches, 2D/3D designs, form, perspectives, color direction, materials, functionality, and user experience. The Idea Design category offers three prizes totaling VND 30 million, VND 15 million, and VND 10 million, intended for individuals with electric motorcycle ideas who may not have a formal design background. AI assistance is permitted for this category. Submissions should focus on the idea, target user, problem to solve, feature differentiation, user experience, and product shape direction, accompanied by suitable illustrations. Finally, the Community Choice award will honor one winner with VND 10 million. Participants can register for multiple categories simultaneously. The judging panel is chaired by Master Engineer Nguyen Anh Tuan, Head of the Industrial Design Department at Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, alongside other prominent figures from academia and the industry, including Dr. Pham Thai Binh, Head of the Fine Arts Design Department at Hanoi University of Architecture, and Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa, Design Director at Aves. Other judges include Mr. Pham Duc Huy, Head of the Vehicle section at VnExpress newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Thai Khang, Head of Technology at Vietnamnet newspaper, and Mr. Nguyen Dang Viet, Head of AutoPro. The judging committee stated that submissions will be evaluated independently on a 100-point scale. For entries selected for the next round, participants will present and directly answer questions from the judging panel. The Aves Future Mobility Challenge 2026 will accept submissions from 8:00 AM on September 21st until the end of October 27th. The submission portal will close on October 28th, and community voting will open until November 4th. The awards ceremony is expected to be held on December 5th in Hanoi. Aves, the organizing company, is a technology and green energy joint-stock company focused on three sectors: smart electric vehicles, renewable energy, and IoT devices. In the vehicle sector, Aves will develop two-wheeled, three-wheeled, and bicycle electric vehicles. The company aims to launch its products by mid-2027.
