Indonesian Party Demands Audit of Fake QRIS, Protects SMEs from Online Gambling Syndicates

The Perindo Party in Indonesia is strongly demanding the implementation of an audit for fake QRIS (QR Code Indonesian Standard) systems. The party points out that these fake systems have become a breeding ground for online gambling syndicates and urges the government to take emergency measures to protect Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) from fraudulent use. QRIS was introduced as a standardized QR code payment system to make digital payments quick and easy within Indonesia. However, reports indicate that fake QRIS codes are being illegally created and used in some instances, being exploited for purposes such as transferring funds to online gambling operations. This puts legitimate businesses run by UMKM at risk of being used for unintended purposes. The Perindo Party expresses concern that such situations undermine the trust of UMKM and hinder the healthy development of the digital economy. The party calls on financial authorities and related institutions to detect and remove fake QRIS and to strengthen the security of the QRIS system. It also urges UMKM business owners to use legitimate QRIS providers and to be vigilant about suspicious transactions. This issue highlights the importance of addressing new forms of crime that accompany the advancement of digitalization in Indonesia. The government needs to take swift and effective measures to protect the economic activities of its citizens and maintain the reliability of digital financial infrastructure.
