Katingan Shooting Incident Reenacted in 17 Scenes - Tragedy Claims 3 Police Officers

A reconstruction of the deadly shooting incident involving police and a drug trafficking ring in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Katingan Tengah District, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan, was held at the Central Kalimantan Regional Police Headquarters on Monday (August 31, 2026) afternoon and evening. The reenactment involved eight suspects, identified by their initials S, I, N, Y, M, B, R, and P, and covered 17 scenes across five crime scenes. According to the Head of Public Relations for the Central Kalimantan Regional Police, Kombes Pol Budi Rachmat, the reconstruction was conducted to match the statements of the suspects and witnesses with the facts gathered by investigators, and to clarify the role of each suspect in the case. The reconstruction process was observed by representatives from the prosecutor's office and the suspects' legal counsel. The first six scenes took place at the house of Mrs. Indem, the mother of one of the suspects, identified as B. Investigators used this location to detail the initial events of the incident. The reconstruction then moved to the front of Mrs. Indem's house, where three scenes related to the destruction of police vehicles were reenacted. Subsequently, the sequence of events shifted to the riverbank across the island. Three scenes were performed here, including an act of shooting with an air rifle. From the riverbank, the reenactment continued to an area with sand piles, known as 'ambuhan.' Three scenes were depicted at this location, detailing the stabbing of Aiptu Yudhie. The final scenes took place at Batu Teluk Seha, where two scenes were reenacted to conclude the reconstruction. "This reconstruction is being held to detail the sequence of the tragedy and clarify the role of each of the eight suspects in the bloody incident in Tumbang Kalemei," stated Budi. The bloody incident began in the early hours of Thursday (July 2, 2026). Personnel from the Katingan Police Narcotics Investigation Unit were conducting an operation against a suspected drug network in Tumbang Kalemei Village. However, the operation, initially aimed at enforcing drug laws, turned into a tragedy. Police officers on duty were attacked, resulting in the deaths of three police officers: Aiptu Anumerta Yudhi Perdana Putra, Briptu Anumerta Nopandri Ramadhana, and Ipda Anumerta Sumariyanto. Through this reconstruction, investigators aim to piece together every stage of the incident comprehensively, including detailing the actions of each suspect that led to the deaths of the three police personnel. "Reconstruction is one of the investigation stages to clarify the legal facts before the case proceeds to the next stage," Budi concluded.
