Phnom Penh Strengthens Public-Private Partnership to Combat Tech Scams

Phnom Penh City is promoting a comprehensive strategy that unites citizens, private companies, and government agencies in a concerted effort to eradicate technology-based scams. This initiative hinges on strengthening public awareness campaigns and enhancing the capacity to dismantle scam operations. Phnom Penh City authorities recognize the severe impact of technology scams on citizens' lives, sounding the alarm about the increasing sophistication of methods that exploit online platforms and communication technologies. In response, the city plans to actively conduct awareness campaigns to equip every citizen with the knowledge to understand scam tactics and avoid falling victim. Furthermore, collaboration with private companies is expected to facilitate the smooth sharing of information regarding the latest technological trends and scam methods, enabling swift responses. This aims to detect the activities of scam organizations early and lead to effective dismantling. This public-private partnership is being implemented against the backdrop of increasing importance in cybercrime countermeasures, running parallel to Cambodia's digital transformation.
