Two men arrested for motorcycle theft in Naypyidaw Council Territory, 19 stolen motorcycles seized from May to July

Two men arrested for motorcycle theft in the Naypyidaw Council Territory, and 19 motorcycles stolen in May, June, and July were further seized, according to the Myanmar Police Force. On the morning of May 12, 2026, Ma Htet Htet Phyo (28) from Setkon Village, Pyinmana Township, Naypyidaw Council Territory, went to Sintay Market in Gyaekgon Village on her Honda Wave-100 motorcycle (License Plate: 46Ya/73482). She parked the motorcycle near the market and went shopping, but when she returned, the motorcycle was missing. Based on this information, the Pyinmana City Police Station registered a case under Section 379 (Motorcycle) of the Penal Code (Pa) No. 145/2026 and began an investigation to identify and arrest the motorcycle thief. In order to identify and arrest the perpetrators, information gathering and investigations were carried out within the territory. As a result, on the night of September 1, two motorcycle thieves, La Min Zaw (22) from Nyang Pin Thar Village, Pyinmana Township, and Zin Ye Htun (alias Ye Htun) (26) from U Yan Gyi Ward, were arrested at their respective homes. Further investigation into their involvement in other criminal activities revealed that these two men had stolen 13 motorcycles in Pyinmana Township and 6 motorcycles from various townships within the Naypyidaw Council Territory between May, June, and July of 2026, for a total of 19 motorcycles. These 19 motorcycles were seized as evidence. In this incident, La Min Zaw and Zin Ye Htun (alias Ye Htun), who stole motorcycles within the Naypyidaw Council Territory, were identified and arrested along with the 19 motorcycles used in the thefts. The two men have been registered in 16 cases at the respective township police stations where the thefts occurred, and legal proceedings are underway for their prosecution according to the law.
