China's Henan Airport Investment Explores Cambodian Water, Renewable Energy, and Smart Agriculture Projects

PHNOM PENH, Sept 16, 2026 (KPT) — Henan Airport Investment, a major state‑owned enterprise from China’s Henan Province, is exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s water, renewable energy and smart agriculture sectors, officials said Wednesday. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), met company president Bai Dongzhan, joined by Air Cambodia CEO David Chan, to discuss potential projects. Chanthol encouraged Henan Airport Investment to expand direct flights and continue cooperation with Air Cambodia to strengthen people‑to‑people links. Dongzhan said the visit followed an invitation from Chanthol during his trip to the company’s Zhengzhou headquarters in March 2025. He noted Henan Airport Investment’s focus on three priority sectors: water supply and wastewater treatment, renewable energy and solar power, and smart agriculture using AI technology. Chanthol welcomed the company’s interest and pledged CDC support to help translate investment intentions into concrete projects. He also praised Henan Airport Investment’s role in developing Cambodia’s aviation sector and business cooperation with Air Cambodia. The meeting highlighted potential cooperation extending beyond aviation, with Henan Airport Investment considering opportunities in infrastructure, clean energy and technology‑driven agriculture.
