Floods Submerge Six Towns in Bataan Amid Intensified Southwest Monsoon

Six towns in Bataan province were submerged in floodwaters Saturday afternoon due to incessant rains triggered by the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat.” Hermosa town was the hardest hit, with knee-high floodwaters inundating portions of Barangays Sto. Cristo, Daungan, San Pedro, and Cataning. Residents in Barangays San Isidro and Ipag in Mariveles were seen wading through the water. The intensified southwest monsoon has been causing increased rainfall across the Philippines, leading to frequent flooding incidents, especially in coastal and low-lying areas, significantly impacting residents' lives. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts the monsoon's influence to continue, urging vigilance. Concerns are also rising over potential damage to infrastructure and disruptions to transportation networks due to the current flooding.
