Vietnam and Canada Aim to Elevate Comprehensive Partnership Soon

On July 22, Vietnamese Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung held a meeting with Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in the Philippines. During the meeting, Vietnam expressed its desire to further strengthen and deepen its Comprehensive Partnership with Canada, making it more effective. Both sides agreed to promote cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and investment. Specifically, a direction was set to explore new opportunities in "future industries" between the two countries and enhance their cooperative relationship. This is seen as aiming for synergy between Vietnam's industrial upgrading initiatives and Canada's technological and investment capabilities. Furthermore, enhanced cooperation in the media sector and people-to-people exchanges (people-to-people diplomacy) was confirmed. This is an important aspect for deepening mutual understanding between the two nations and strengthening the foundation of their relationship. This meeting served as an opportunity for Vietnam and Canada to reaffirm their commitment to taking concrete steps to elevate their bilateral relations to a new level. Vietnam's foreign relations under its one-party system emphasize economic growth and expanding international influence, with the strengthening of ties with Canada being part of this strategy.
