Action to be taken from October 1st on carrying goods on the roof of passenger cars

Mekong, September 24 The No. 19 Traffic Police Force, Sub-Battalion (East Shan) in Kengtung city, eastern Shan State, has announced that action will be taken against those who carry goods on the roof of passenger vehicles such as Probox and AD Van. The announcement states that an awareness period will be conducted from today, September 24th, to September 30th, and enforcement against rule violators will commence from October 1st. "This order requires attention from passenger transport vehicles traveling from Tachileik through Myaing Gyi Ngu to southern Shan State. If they cannot load goods, the vehicles will face difficulties," said a driver. He added that small vehicles operating from eastern Shan to southern Shan must carry not only passengers but also cargo to be profitable. The Kengtung Traffic Police Force has notified drivers to comply with the prescribed traffic rules and refrain from carrying goods on the roof of passenger vehicles.
