Vietnamese UN Peacekeepers Share Difficulties with Children in South Sudan

In the final days before concluding their mission in South Sudan, staff members of Vietnam's Level 2 Field Hospital No. 7 dedicated time to visit children facing difficult circumstances in Juba. This initiative underscores Vietnam's ongoing commitment to international contributions as part of its participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations (PKO). Throughout their deployment in South Sudan, the hospital has prioritized not only providing medical assistance but also fostering engagement and interaction with the local community. Special attention has been given to children, who are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of conflict and poverty, recognizing this as a crucial humanitarian endeavor. The visit aimed to understand the children's living conditions and offer them emotional support through direct interaction. Vietnam has been actively contributing personnel to UN peacekeeping forces, with the deployment of field hospitals being a significant contribution in the medical field. Previously, the hospital has achieved numerous successes, including enhancing its capacity to respond to Ebola outbreaks, successfully performing complex surgeries, and achieving a favorable outcome in UN capability assessments. These activities demonstrate Vietnam's dedication to international cooperation and its high level of expertise in peacekeeping operations.
