SOSORO Museum and SIPAR Launch Illustrated Book to Bring Cambodia’s History Closer to Readers

PHNOM PENH, June 9, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s SOSORO Museum has launched a new illustrated book in partnership with SIPAR aimed at making the country’s economic and monetary history more accessible to the public, officials said Tuesday. The publication was unveiled in the museum’s garden in the presence of representatives from Cambodia’s cultural and education sectors. It offers a concise and engaging summary of SOSORO’s permanent exhibition, presenting 2,000 years of history through accessible texts and illustrations. Museum co‑director Blaise Kilian said the book was designed for a broad audience, serving both as a companion to the exhibition and as a standalone introduction to Cambodia’s heritage. “At SOSORO, one of our core missions is to make Cambodia’s history accessible to everyone,” he said. SIPAR Director General Hok Sothik described the book as a valuable educational resource for young Cambodians and international visitors. SIPAR, a long‑standing institution promoting reading and education, contributed its expertise in publishing, while the museum provided historical research and collections. The project reflects a growing effort to expand access to knowledge and promote cultural literacy. The book is available in Khmer, English and French editions at the SOSORO Museum Gift Shop and through SIPAR. The launch comes as Cambodia prepares to host the 20th Francophonie Summit later this year, with cultural institutions highlighting initiatives to showcase the country’s history and linguistic heritage. SOSORO has already staged exhibitions linking Khmer and French traditions, underscoring its role in promoting dialogue between Cambodia’s past and present.
