During the Miss Grand Vietnam 2026 finale, reigning queen Yen Nhi fell from a motorcycle during her performance. She quickly recovered to a standing ovation, completing her final walk. Nhi reflected on her year as queen, emphasizing personal growth over fame.
During the Miss Grand Vietnam 2026 finale held in Ho Chi Minh City, reigning queen Yen Nhi experienced an unexpected fall from a motorcycle as she made her entrance, just before her final catwalk to conclude her reign. Nhi, who was part of the opening performance with the top 30 contestants, appeared on stage riding a motorcycle for a special segment. While maneuvering the bike towards the center of the stage, she lost balance and braked sharply, causing her to fall onto the stage floor. Fortunately, due to wearing protective gear including a helmet, she sustained only minor abrasions on her leg. Despite the fall, Nhi quickly got back on her feet and completed her performance to the cheering of the audience. The incident did not affect her "final walk" later in the show. As she graced the stage for her last walk as queen, Nhi became emotional, recalling the moment she was crowned a year prior. "I am always grateful for the love and encouragement I have received on my journey. Every stage, work experience, and encounter has become a memory I will always cherish," she shared. Reflecting on her year-long transformation from a relatively unknown university student to a beauty queen, Yen Nhi stated that she has undergone positive changes in both her mindset and actions. She believes her greatest success lies not in fame, but in her personal growth. After her coronation, she faced public scrutiny regarding her appearance and conduct. While she admitted to moments of sadness and tears backstage, she chose not to let it be widely known. Instead, Nhi focused on listening to feedback to improve herself. "I understand that effort alone is not enough; I also need courage, composure, and strength to face doubts," she remarked. Yen Nhi found strength and support from her family, which helped her navigate through periods of pressure. She comes from a humble background in Dak Lak province, with parents who have worked as construction laborers and lottery ticket vendors for over two decades. Through her success in the entertainment industry, she has been able to improve her family's living conditions, including renovating their home after a flood. Her father, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, 49, expressed pride in Yen Nhi's efforts and filial piety. "She not only helped renovate our home but also covered my medical expenses and medication during my illnesses," he said. Moving forward, Yen Nhi plans to focus on completing her university studies while continuing her modeling career. She also aspires to explore acting, having previously attended a skills training course with veteran artists. Yen Nhi, whose full name is Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, is 22 years old, stands 1.72 meters tall, with measurements of 81-64-92 cm. She is currently a student majoring in Tourism and Hospitality Management at Van Hien University. After winning Miss Grand Vietnam in September 2025, she competed in Miss Grand International in Thailand but did not achieve a placement.
