Cambodia Directs Strict Oversight for Transparent and Fair High School Exams

On August 8, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, presided over a meeting with examination committees in preparation for the high school graduation examinations scheduled for August 10. The meeting, held at Preah Sisowath High School in Phnom Penh, was attended by approximately 370 participants, including ministry officials, representatives from the Anti-Corruption Unit, and examination committee members, center chiefs, and supervisors from across Phnom Penh. The objective of the meeting was to provide technical guidance, clarify roles and responsibilities, and offer crucial recommendations to examination committee heads, center chiefs, and Anti-Corruption Unit officials responsible for the examination venues. The aim was to ensure transparency, fairness, legal compliance, and acceptable outcomes in line with the motto "Those who know, pass." Dr. Hang Chuon Naron commended the collaborative efforts and progress achieved in examination reforms over the past 12 years by educational staff and the Anti-Corruption Unit. Key achievements include the eradication of negative examination practices, enhancement of the prestige of educators, and fostering a student attitude focused on diligent study and passing through genuine merit. The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated several key points for the examination process: 1. Maintain strict discipline at examination centers, particularly regarding mobile phone usage. Legal action will be taken against any leaks of examination papers. 2. Ensure safety during work and travel, and strictly adhere to schedules. 3. Implement rigorous technical management. 4. Continue good cooperation and mutual assistance to achieve common goals effectively. 5. Perform duties diligently. 6. Organize examination centers in an orderly manner according to technical guidelines. 7. Ensure standardized, transparent, and fair examinations that reflect students' genuine efforts and the support of parents, community, and the government. On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Dr. Hang Chuon Naron encouraged all teams responsible for this year's examinations to continue performing their duties professionally and effectively to ensure a smooth and successful process. He also wished all team members safety, good health, and success in their important mission to contribute to strengthening Cambodia's human resource quality.
