Soldiers Battle Floodwaters to Harvest Rice, Aiding Local Residents

In Tay Ninh province, southern Vietnam, soldiers conducted emergency agricultural work to support residents in an area facing potential flood damage due to unexpected heavy rains. On the 14th, approximately 120 officers and soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 738th Regiment, under the Tay Ninh Provincial Military Command, were mobilized. These soldiers, in coordination with the Military Command of Thanh Phuoc and Thanh Hoa communes, urgently carried out harvesting operations on about 13 hectares of rice paddies. The objective was to minimize potential damage to crops caused by anticipated heavy rainfall and subsequent rising water levels. Amidst the pouring rain, the soldiers waded into the rising paddy fields, working diligently amidst the mud to harvest the rice, which is the foundation of the residents' livelihoods. This swift and dedicated support activity highlights the solidarity of Vietnamese society against natural disasters and the crucial role the military plays in maintaining regional community safety and stability. Vietnam, particularly the Mekong Delta region, is constantly exposed to the risks of floods and salinization due to climate change. In such circumstances, the military's direct support to protect the lives of local residents is an essential element in maintaining social stability.
