Vietnam-China International Conference on Rule of Law and Power Control

An international scientific conference themed 'Building a Rule of Law State, Controlling Power, and Combating Corruption, Waste, and Negativity: Experiences of Vietnam and China' commenced on August 7 in Da Nang city, central Vietnam, with the participation of over 100 delegates. The conference, held under the guidance of the Central Theoretical Council of the Communist Party of Vietnam, aims to deepen discussions among legal and political science experts from both Vietnam and China on challenges in building a rule of law state, mechanisms for controlling the exercise of power, and measures for corruption prevention. In recent years, Vietnam has intensified strict crackdowns on domestic corruption and irregularities, running parallel to its economic growth. This is a crucial policy agenda for maintaining the legitimacy of its governance under a one-party system and gaining public trust. China, similarly, continues its anti-corruption campaign domestically, indicating shared awareness of common challenges. The conference is understood to have deliberated on specific legal system development, the principle of separation of powers, enhancing administrative transparency, and the role of citizen participation in gaining public trust. The exchange of experiences between the two countries is expected to contribute to improving governance capabilities within each nation and suggests potential for cooperation towards regional stability and development. Against the backdrop of Vietnam's political system, economic development dynamics, and its strategic relationship with China, the convening of this conference is seen as a noteworthy development attracting international attention.
