Min Aung Hlaing to visit Vietnam in diplomatic push to bypass ASEAN restrictions

Regime leader Min Aung Hlaing will conduct an official visit to Vietnam from Sept. 4-6, marking his third trip to an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member state since being inaugurated Myanmar president by a pro-military parliament on April 10. Bilateral agenda and economic objectives High-Level Bilateral Talks: Min Aung Hlaing is scheduled to meet with Vietnamese President Tô Lâm and Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng. Commercial Strategy: The regime delegation will attend the Myanmar-Vietnam Business Forum and inspect digital technology and industrial facilities in Vietnam. Preparatory Bilateral Framework: The visit follows an Aug. 26 trip to Naypyidaw by Vietnamese Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung, who co-chaired the 10th Meeting of the Myanmar–Vietnam Joint Commission with his regime counterpart Tin Maung Swe to establish new bilateral trade targets.
