Prime Minister Hun Manet Welcomes Public Feedback to Strengthen SMEs
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are crucial drivers of economic growth and job creation. He announced an open call for public feedback, especially from SME operators, to address challenges and promote their development. This initiative aligns with the nation's strategy to boost domestic production and reduce imports.
On July 19, 2026, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, reiterated that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are crucial drivers of national economic growth and job creation for the citizens. For many mandates, the Royal Government has consistently implemented policies and measures to promote and uplift the development of the SME sector. The current government, in its seventh mandate of the National Assembly, has also introduced further measures to encourage and facilitate the establishment and operation of SMEs. Indeed, alongside the many positive achievements realized in the past, there remain several challenges that need to be continuously addressed to further strengthen the SME sector. In the current phase, where Cambodia needs to boost domestic production to replace imports, the role of SMEs becomes even more significant. To this end, I have assigned H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance and Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee, to lead, organize, and consider the implementation of several additional necessary and urgent measures to address the challenges and to promote and encourage SMEs. In the past, in preparing and implementing each policy and measure, the Royal Government has always conducted detailed studies and discussed with SME representatives, the private sector, and relevant ministries and institutions to gather input as a basis. In this regard, to enhance the effectiveness in addressing various challenges, I welcome the feedback from our citizens, especially those engaged in the SME sector, regarding the challenges and their solutions. This feedback will serve as important additional input for the Royal Government in formulating measures to address issues for SMEs more effectively and with targeted impact. This reflects the government's commitment to incorporating public opinion into policy-making for the greater national interest.
