At least 30 people were arbitrarily detained in Yangon throughout April 2026 by junta forces and Pyu Saw Htee militias. While arrests slowed during the Thingyan festival to project normalcy, forced recruitment remains a critical threat to the urban poor, even as resistance groups continue to challenge the regime’s narrative.
