Vietnam's '500-Day Campaign' for Fallen Soldiers' Remains Progress Reviewed in Bac Ninh

Vietnam's military conducted an inspection at the Cau Lo Martyrs' Cemetery in Bac Lung commune, Bac Ninh province, to assess the progress of the '500-Day Campaign' aimed at collecting and identifying the remains of fallen soldiers. The delegation was led by Lieutenant General La Cong Phuong, a member of the Party Central Committee and Political Commissar of Military Region 1. The '500-Day Campaign' is a national initiative to honor fallen soldiers, provide peace to their families, and accelerate the process of repatriation and identification. The campaign emphasizes swift collection and accurate identification of remains. To date, the operation has successfully collected 1,563 sets of fallen soldiers' remains and discovered nine mass graves. DNA samples from martyrs' remains were also collected in Le Ich Moc ward, Hai Phong city, as part of the campaign. Vietnam faces the challenge of identifying numerous remains of soldiers lost during its protracted wars. Through initiatives like the '500-Day Campaign,' the government aims to expedite this crucial national task, fulfilling historical responsibility and strengthening national unity.
