Reconstruction of Destroyed Office Buildings to be Based on Funding Availability in 2027-2028 Fiscal Year

Plans are being submitted to rebuild offices, departmental offices, dilapidated departmental office buildings that do not meet standards, and staff housing that were burned down and destroyed by terrorist acts in the upcoming 2027-2028 fiscal year, and will be carried out according to priority based on funding availability, said Deputy Minister U Ye Htun Oo of the Ministry of Immigration and Population. This was in response to a starred question from Daw Swe Swe Thin, a Member of Parliament for the Pountde constituency, who wanted to know in which fiscal year new office buildings would be constructed for the Township Immigration and National Registration Department in the Paukkon Township, during the first day of the third regular session of the third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw held on September 21. The Ministry of Immigration and Population stated that it annually submits requests for the construction of new departmental offices that have not yet been opened, and for the reconstruction of dilapidated departmental office buildings and staff housing that do not meet standards. Deputy Minister U Ye Htun Oo also explained that the Township Head Office in Paukkon Township was not included because, in the funding request for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, priority was given to office buildings destroyed by terrorist acts and offices damaged by natural disasters, including the Mandalay earthquake.
