Tropical Hut Food Market Inc., one of the Philippines' oldest fast-food chains, has inked a deal with First Gen Group to power 12 of its branches and head office with renewable energy sourced from geothermal facilities, marking a significant step towards sustainability.
MANILA, Philippines — The First Gen Group is covering more sectors with its renewable energy, as it clinched a fresh agreement to power Tropical Hut Food Market Inc., one of the country’s oldest fast-food chains. Both parties signed the power supply contract on Friday, covering 12 Tropical Hut branches and its head office, which all require a total of at least 750 kilowatts of capacity. Since 1965, Tropical Hut has been serving the local market with classic hamburgers, spaghetti, fried chicken and other fast-food items. It is owned by the Mercury Group of Companies, the parent firm of Mercury Drug Corp.
