Cambodia's Health Minister Advocates Regional Cooperation and Innovation at ASEAN+3 Health Meeting
Cambodia's Minister of Health presented three key proposals at the 11th ASEAN+3 Health Ministers Meeting, focusing on strengthening health system synchronization, leveraging digital technology and AI, and enhancing elderly care cooperation. A joint statement was adopted, aiming to bolster regional resilience against public health challenges.
H.E. Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, participated in the 11th ASEAN Plus Three Health Ministers Meeting (11th APT HMM), involving ASEAN member states along with China, Japan, and South Korea, on September 10, 2026. The meeting endorsed the report of the Preparatory Senior Officials Meeting for the 11th APT HMM (PrepSOM for 11th APT HMM) and subsequently engaged in discussions and exchanged views on the theme: "Synchronising Health Systems: Scaling Innovation and Longevity across ASEAN Plus Three." During the meeting, H.E. Professor Chheang Ra, Cambodia's Minister of Health, delivered an intervention focusing on three key aspects: 1. Synchronizing Health Systems: Enhancing regional cooperation to synchronize health systems for effective response to emergent public health challenges. 2. Transforming Health Technology and Innovation: Promoting the adoption of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive innovation in health technology, thereby increasing equity in healthcare access. 3. Preparing for an Aging Population: Expanding cooperation in elderly care to support healthy longevity for older populations across the ASEAN Plus Three region. The meeting successfully adopted the "Joint Statement of the 11th ASEAN Plus Three Health Ministers Meeting," reflecting the collective commitment between ASEAN and the Plus Three countries.
