Bát Tràng Ceramic-Inspired Wedding Dresses Debut in Japan

Vietnamese designer Linh Nga has unveiled her wedding dress collection "Hana Yuri," inspired by the curves of Bát Tràng ceramics. The collection was introduced at the Kyoto Wedding Exhibition 2026, held in Japan from August 3-4, 2026. The collection features 20 handcrafted designs developed from the imagery of Bát Tràng ceramic artisans, drawing inspiration from pottery techniques and the resulting curves and shapes. Each element of the dresses is designed to evoke the ceramic-making process. This includes hip structures that create a slimming effect on the waist, a cinched waistline reminiscent of a vase's neck, draping that suggests the movement of clay on a potter's wheel, and skirts that widen like the base of a jar. The collection maintains a classic style throughout, with pairings of opera-length gloves and elegant hats that evoke the image of noble ladies from bygone eras. The primary color palette comprises off-white, cream, and light champagne, mirroring the original glaze of ceramic ware before decoration. In addition to satin silk, the collection also utilizes tulle, organza, and hand-applied lace. Intricate hand-stitched details are rendered on light-catching materials, creating a texture similar to glaze fresh from the kiln. The designs emphasize flattering silhouettes, including A-line, mermaid, and princess styles, ensuring ease of wear. One high-end off-the-shoulder gown highlights embroidered lace and ruffled trim at the décolletage. An A-line tulle dress incorporates a hidden corset in the upper body, enhancing the bust and waist. A dropped-waist gown focuses on large pleats in the skirt, suitable for those who favor a minimalist aesthetic. Linh Nga, born in Hanoi in 1986, established her own brand in late 2014. Initially focusing on high-end wedding dresses, she later expanded into evening wear. Beyond Paris Fashion Week, she has also presented shows at Shanghai Fashion Week. Her designs have been chosen by numerous celebrities, including singers Ho Quynh Huong, Hoa Minzy, Bao Thy, and Ngo Lan Huong, as well as actresses Phuong Lan and Ho Bich Tram, and runner-up Thuy Van.
