Indonesia Ready to Support Open, Inclusive AI Ecosystem: Minister

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that Indonesia is ready to foster an open and inclusive Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem. He emphasized the nation's commitment to encouraging domestic AI development and pursuing progress in the field through international cooperation. Minister Hartarto acknowledged the crucial role of AI advancements in driving economic growth and addressing societal challenges, underscoring Indonesia's proactive stance in contributing to this sector. The plan involves supporting research and development of AI technologies by domestic institutions and companies, as well as promoting the use of AI in line with international standards and ethical guidelines. He further highlighted the importance of collaboration among diverse domestic stakeholders in building the AI ecosystem, calling for joint efforts from the government, industry, academia, and civil society. The aim is to create a fair and transparent ecosystem where AI technologies benefit society as a whole. Indonesia also aims to demonstrate leadership in AI within the ASEAN region and plans to deepen cooperation with neighboring countries.
