Vietnam Week Opens in Bangkok, Boosting Vietnam-Thailand Economic Ties

The "Vietnam Week 2026" event, aimed at deepening economic cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand, opened on September 17, 2026, at Central World, a major shopping complex in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. The event will run until September 20. Co-organized by Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade and Thailand's Central Group and Central Retail, the event is themed "Discovering the Beauty of Vietnam," showcasing the country's diverse attractions. Notably, a "Vietnam-Thailand Business Supply Chain and Demand Linkage Seminar" was held to connect businesses from both nations, alongside discussions on creating an attractive investment ecosystem in Vietnam for Thai companies. Furthermore, a "Vietnam-Thailand Business Forum" attended by Vietnamese leaders and the Thai Prime Minister, as well as a business networking event in Phuket, are planned, fostering business opportunities and expansion between the two countries. Vietnam, under its one-party system, has achieved significant economic growth and is enhancing its presence within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). While maintaining strong economic ties with China, strengthening relationships with neighboring countries like Thailand is strategically important for diversifying supply chains and expanding markets. This "Vietnam Week" can be seen as part of Vietnam's broader diplomatic and economic strategy.
