Lam Dong Province in Vietnam is accelerating its tourism transformation by promoting digitalization. The province aims to enhance tourism management, promotion, business support, and visitor experiences through the establishment of a smart tourism ecosystem. This initiative is a significant driver for strengthening the role of tourism in the local socio-economic development and enhancing its competitiveness. Enhancing Visitor Experience At the Lam Dong Museum in Da Lat City, visitors can access detailed information about exhibits, ethnic cultures, and natural environments by scanning QR codes with their smartphones. The 3D virtual museum attracts an average of 1,000-1,500 visitors daily. As part of the "Yêu lắm Việt Nam" (Vietnam, I Love You) project, to be implemented nationwide by Nhan Dan Newspaper in collaboration with partners in 2025, NFC-embedded panels will be installed at museums and cultural/tourist sites. These panels will allow visitors to access stories, images, videos, and 3D models of locations on-site and explore surrounding areas. Hoang Ngoc Huy, Director of the Lam Dong Museum, stated that this contributes to realizing the province's digitalization strategy in tourism and effectively disseminates the historical, cultural values, and attractions of the locality. Furthermore, Avocado Farm in Quang Lap Village effectively utilizes digital maps integrated with Google Maps and VR360 technology to showcase the farm's appeal, aiding pre-visit visualization and promoting local specialties. The farm also collaborates with the Chu Ru Cultural Village, offering rich experiences that blend agriculture with local culture through pottery, weaving, traditional "ruou can" (jar wine) tasting, and gong music. Building a Smart Tourism Ecosystem Lam Dong's smart tourism system currently includes data on approximately 1,700 accommodation facilities, 1,000 food service establishments, hundreds of tourist attractions, shopping centers, and public facilities. This serves tourists' search needs and assists administrators in tracking visitor numbers, analyzing market trends, and formulating appropriate development policies. Additionally, efforts are underway to digitize over 1.1 million pages of valuable documents and historical records, with ongoing initiatives to build digital data for local heritage. Promotion through digital platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Zalo is also being strengthened, with live streaming introducing festivals, destinations, and local products, thereby expanding the image of Lam Dong's land and people. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, noted that digitalization in culture, sports, and tourism aims to improve state management efficiency, create new values, and position culture as a development resource and tourism as a key economic sector for the province. The province plans to prioritize the digitization of museums, libraries, historical sites, scenic spots, and cultural heritage, and will build a unified portal integrating features like digital maps, QR codes at attractions, event information, accommodation details, destination information, and data analysis tools for management purposes. Lam Dong also intends to promote the application of AI to disseminate the message "Lam Dong - Come to Love," support customer inquiries, analyze feedback, and forecast market trends to enhance the quality of tourism and services.
