Cambodia Strengthens Financial and Audit Expertise Through MoU
Cambodia's Institute of Economics and Finance and the General Department of Internal Audit have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance professional qualifications in public finance for internal auditors, aiming to strengthen cooperation and human resource development in the sector.
The Institute of Economics and Finance under the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the General Department of Internal Audit under the Ministry of Interior have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance professional qualifications in public finance for internal auditors, aiming to strengthen cooperation and human resource development in the field of public finance and internal audit. The ceremony took place on September 8, 2026, with the signatories being Lieutenant General Nguon Sreng, Director General of the General Department of Internal Audit of the Ministry of Interior, and In Nem, Director of the Institute of Economics and Finance of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. This cooperation will focus on training in public finance, accounting, and auditing expertise, as well as strengthening the technical and digital capacities of internal audit officials. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding and implementing the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) for public finance. The signing of this MoU is a significant step towards strengthening the capacity of civil servants, reducing and preventing risks, and improving the efficiency and quality of internal audit work. This aims to contribute to the strengthening of good governance and effective public finance management. The MoU will serve as a basis for implementing practical activities and promoting the robust capacity building of civil servants in line with institutional development needs and the establishment of good governance within state institutions.
