Minebea's Resilient Operations in Cambodia Underscore National Resilience, Says Senate President Hun Sen

Senate President Hun Sen stated that the progress of Minebea's operations in Cambodia clearly demonstrates the country's resilience, as well as the company's own robustness in remaining strong within Cambodia despite some obstacles. These challenges have not adversely affected the company, which continues to advance its development. This was reported by Mr. Chea Thireth, spokesperson for the Senate, following a courtesy call by Mr. Yoshihisa Kainuma, CEO of MinebeaMitsumi Co., Ltd., to Senate President Hun Sen on the morning of July 28, 2026, at the Senate's Peace Palace. During the meeting, Senate President Hun Sen expressed his welcome and pleasure in meeting with the CEO and his colleagues. He also expressed his satisfaction with Minebea's strong presence in Cambodia and its continuous expansion of investment. Concurrently, Minebea CEO Yoshihisa Kainuma expressed his profound gratitude to Senate President Hun Sen for granting him and his colleagues the opportunity to meet. He recalled his last meeting with the Senate President on July 22, 2025, before the outbreak of the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand. He noted that while the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand had some impact on transportation, it did not affect the business operations of Minebea, which continued to run smoothly as usual, showcasing Cambodia's resilience in retaining investors. Minebea's CEO also reported on the company's progress, stating that it has already opened two factories: one in the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone and another in the Special Economic Zone in Pursat province, contributing to job creation. In Pursat, the company is also constructing a solar-powered factory. Furthermore, the CEO mentioned that Minebea is currently seeking opportunities and possibilities to further expand its investments. He added that despite recent reports of fraud via technology and the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict, he personally views investment in Cambodia as trustworthy and without concern, as his company has been established in Cambodia for approximately 15 years. On this occasion, Senate President Hun Sen expressed his delight at Minebea's progress report and also his surprise that the border conflict with Thailand had not impacted Minebea's investments and operations. He also expressed his pleasure that Minebea wishes to expand its investment potential in Cambodia. The Senate President further advised the Minebea CEO to continue trusting the Cambodian government, recalling his past work with the government he led and noting that the current Cambodian government is led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, both of whom are economists. Therefore, the investment environment in Cambodia is becoming increasingly favorable for investment in the country.
