Can Tho City Holds Conference on Innovation Index Enhancement

On July 27, the Ministry of Science and Technology, in coordination with the People's Committee of Can Tho City, organized a scientific conference in Can Tho City titled "Solutions to Promote and Enhance the Innovation Index of Can Tho City." The conference aims to evaluate the Provincial Innovation Index (PII) for 2025 and propose solutions to improve the index for the period 2026-2030. The meeting emphasized the importance of comprehensive efforts to boost the innovation index. Given that Hanoi has maintained the top position in the national PII for three consecutive years, the focus is on how Can Tho City can enhance its competitiveness in this area. Vietnam prioritizes the promotion of science, technology, and innovation as a cornerstone of its national strategy to drive economic growth and strengthen international competitiveness. Under its one-party system, the Communist Party of Vietnam has made economic development a top priority and is working to create an environment conducive to both domestic and foreign investment. Improving the innovation index is considered an essential element for fostering local economic development and transitioning to a more advanced industrial structure. As a central city in the Mekong Delta region, enhancing Can Tho City's innovation capacity is expected to contribute to the overall development of the region. The specific measures proposed at this conference will be closely watched to see how they translate into future innovation promotion efforts in Can Tho City.
