Vietnam Coast Guard Concludes First Aid Training Course

On the morning of July 21, the Command of Coast Guard Region 2 held a closing ceremony for its 2026 first aid training course in Nui Thanh commune, Da Nang city. This training course was designed to enhance the first aid skills of coast guard personnel, including practical exercises to ensure prompt and accurate response during maritime emergencies. In recent years, the Vietnam Coast Guard has increasingly emphasized the importance of maritime life-saving and safety, in line with the expansion of its operational scope at sea. This training course was conducted as part of efforts to cultivate personnel with specialized emergency response capabilities, reflecting this context. The Vietnam Coast Guard undertakes a wide range of missions, including patrolling territorial waters and exclusive economic zones (EEZs), combating illegal fishing, responding to maritime accidents, and environmental protection. For Vietnam, with its extensive coastline and numerous islands, ensuring maritime safety is crucial for maintaining national sovereignty and stabilizing economic activities. The Vietnamese government, under its one-party system, is promoting the modernization and capacity enhancement of the Coast Guard as part of strengthening national defense, and this first aid training is seen as part of that effort. Furthermore, with Vietnam's ongoing territorial disputes in the South China Sea (referred to as the East Sea in Vietnam) with China, the role of the Coast Guard is becoming increasingly significant from a security perspective. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, it strives to protect its maritime interests and ensure the safety of sea lanes, while deepening international cooperation. In this context, the training of first aid personnel is considered to contribute not only to humanitarian aspects but also to the enhancement of national security capabilities.
