Cambodia Cracks Down on Online Scams with New Law and International Cooperation

The Cambodian government is taking a firm stance against the rampant online scams in the country. In April 2026, the "Law on Combating Online Scams" was enacted, with penalties up to life imprisonment, strengthening crackdowns and law enforcement. From July 2025 to July 2026, significant results were achieved, including the raid on 751 scam sites and the rescue of 21,666 foreign victims. Furthermore, Cambodia plans to host an international conference in September 2026 to promote global cooperation in combating online scams, a universal issue.
